Student life offers a dynamic and cultural environment, similar to the character of the Tel Aviv metropolis.
Every two years the International Student Film Festival takes place in Tel Aviv, where actors, directors and cameramen give lectures and master classes.
Every Wednesday, students can enjoy rock music outdoors on campus free of charge. Over 200 concerts are held on campus. This is because TAU is the only university with a music school.
City of Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv is known as the capital of Israeli industry, providing almost 40% of the country's financial and banking services. High-tech companies and start-ups make the city an innovative and information-based centre.
The population consists to a high percentage of young people. The city centre is a good place to make contacts due to the high concentration of nightclubs and restaurants. Outside the city, the beaches offer opportunities for sports activities such as windsurfing.
The following information might be important before you arrive:
- The currency is "shekel".
- The weather is muggy-hot in summer with maximum temperatures of 30°C in August, while in winter the temperature is mild, between 11° and 19°C.

"The university is not in the center of Tel Aviv, it is in the north. But buses are going there from the center all the time and if it’s not too hot, you can go by bike. The university has a big campus and is a fairly new university. You can choose courses of the part time Master or of the international MBA-Program. The part time courses are joined by Israeli students and are in the evenings because the students are already working daytime jobs. The MBA-Program is for people from around the world who worked several years and come to Tel Aviv to study again. […] But you have to know that the university offers nearly only economic courses.
When you arrive you have an introduction week in which you get to know the other exchange students, the university, Jerusalem and Jaffa. All the time you have a contact person, who is there to help you all the time. In addition, the university has a buddy system. Every student gets an Israeli student as a buddy to get to know the Israeli culture better. Beside that the university organizes parties and other events like soccer matches. One great event was the pool party in the swimming pool of the university."

"Seen the perspective of recreation, Tel Aviv has a lot of opportunities. Habimah as the national theatre or any of the cinemas showing movies in original versions (mostly in English) are a great opportunity to spend your time. Additionally there are lots of restaurants and bars which never close or boulevards inviting you to stay or play a game of Boule. If this does not fit you there is also the possibility to go to one of the wonderful beaches where one can swim, surf or play Matkot (an Israeli game)."
